Wondering if AIr Force One has PANTS OFF?
AOPA ePilot Special Airspace Bulletin August 24, 2007
-------------------------------------------------------------------
A special notice to pilots in the western Nevada area
==> ATTENTION PILOTS <==
FAA TO ESTABLISH TFR OVER RENO ON MONDAY AND TUESDAY
AOPA is sending this message to advise pilots in and near Reno, Nevada,
that the FAA has issued a notam restricting flight in the area during
President Bush's planned overnight visit from Monday, August 27,
through Tuesday, August 28.
There will be a large 30-nautical-mile-radius temporary flight
restriction (TFR) centered on the FMG VOR's 234-degree radial at 5.5
miles, extending up to Flight Level 180. It will be in effect
from 6:55 p.m. local on Monday until 1:25 p.m. local on Tuesday. Also,
there will be a smaller 10-nm-radius GA no-fly zone in effect within
the larger TFR during that time frame. See AOPA Online for the full
text of the notam along with a graphical depiction
( www.aopa.org/whatsnew/notams.html#7/4562 ).
The affected landing facilities are Reno/Tahoe International (RNO),
Spanish Springs (N86), Reno/Stead (4SD), Parker Carson (2Q5), Carson
(CXP), Dayton Valley Airpark (A34), Truckee-Tahoe (TRK), Silver Springs
(B08), Tiger Field (N58), Sierraville Dearwater (O79), and
Minden-Tahoe (MEV).
Because TFR airspace frequently changes, AOPA strongly encourages
pilots to obtain a briefing and CHECK NOTAMS before every flight.
TFR violators will be intercepted and forced to land.
