Guess I should have given a follow up sooner, as I got emails about this today from this tribe. :) Even though Rev. Michael did accept our invitation to come, when the timing and logistics all got pulled together, it wouldn't work. So he had to cancel for this year (I have high hopes for next year though, and we now have everything laid out, and would advertise properly). He's been taken off of the BM schedule. The reason for the wonky timing this year is that he and Rickie Byars Beckwith (and me!) are going to be at the Democratic National Convention that whole week, doing various activities. The Agape Choir (which I'm in) has been asked to sing at the DNC, which is beyond thrilling. It runs the exact same week as Burning Man. So Michael & Rickie would have had a one-day window to fly in and out of BRC. When we did the math, and realized that no commercial flight could get them to Reno any earlier than 9:30, we realized we'd have to have a private plane the whole way from LA to get them to BRC on time. We did find a pilot willing to do that, but it would have been a 4 1/2 hour flight each way (9 hours of flying in one day), and they would have had to leave LA at around 5am after getting home late on Friday night. So it was just too much. But Rev. Michael did send a lovely message thanking us for the work and planning. And now even his secretary (who I communicated with a lot about this) is enrolled in wanting to come next year for the first time. So I think chances are great it'll happen then. It turns out it's better for me anyway, since now I won't be flying into BRC until Friday. (I"ve never gotten to BM that late before.) I"m glad people are contacing me that they'd be excited about him being out there. When it does happen, it will be freakin fantastic!!! If you're not familiar with who he is, he was in the movie "The Secret" and is the founder of the Agape International Spiritual Center in Los Angeles (www.agapelive.com). He's awesome! I've been working on this project idea for months. After a lot of back & forth & working with schedules, he and his wife Rickie Byars Beckwith have agreed to come and do an Agape service. This is soooo exciting, and will be huge out there! The only problem is, they can only make it if they fly in on Saturday morning, and leave later that same day (late afternoon or early evening, I would imagine). They both have crazy busy schedules. So, logistically, the only way to make this work is to fly them into BRC directly. Is there anyone that could possibly help with this? It would be incredibly awesome to have them flown btw. Los Angeles & BRC directly. But I'm also willing to look into Los Angeles - Reno - BRC, if that could make this happen. I'm working with a HUGE DEADLINE on several fronts, so I need to get this figured out ASAP.
