Originally posted to the BM Aviator lists, but I know many people drop off those lists in the winter. So, apologies if it seems like a cross-post but this does contain some official info, partially covered by my ramblings.

Sitting here today I am reminiscing about the fun and frivolity of the
BRTA Awards Ceremony 2006. I recall sharing the many firsts we
experienced at BM last year;
First time having 100+ aircraft
First Spaceport Terminal building
First jet landing
First static aircraft display
First time I hosted the awards ceremony without Agent Meshugganah. (never again!)
First time I hosted said ceremony w/o fishnet stockings and a miniskirt. (never, ever again!)
As BM07 approaches our village sees more change on the horizon, and
doubtless more Firsts. Change is good, and vital to growth. Il est
inevitable.
A while back I decided that '06 would be my last year as UnicomMander.
I knew the time had come to hand the mic over to someone else, and
pass along all the fun and rewarding effort that position entails. And
since I will be in Spain this summer crewing the European Regional
Burn (Nowhere), I just won't be around much in the weeks before the
Big Burn. So, beginning in 2007, there will be a new DJ in town, and a
new voice on KBRC, 122.9 on your FM dial.
I want to thank Lissa for trusting me when I pitched her this crazy
UNICOM idea after the 2003 event had all of us grasping for solutions.
We had UNICOM before that, of course. But when I proposed to Lissa
that I would create procedures, setup some structures, cultivate &
organize a volunteer staff and generally turn UNICOM into a vital
resource, I saw a familiar look in her eye. It said, "ohmigod, why did
it have to be DragonFly?" She could tell it was a good idea, but I saw
the fear in her face. Most of you know me, can you blame her?
But, Le Corps de Aviators turned out en-masse and made it easy for me.
You are the reason it worked then, works now, and will work in the
future. Merci beaucoup!!
If you're interested in applying for the position of BRC UnicomMander,

reasons why you should, or should not, assume this mantle, write to me
directly. I'll be happy to reinforce your worst fears. ;^)
Bon Courage!!!
